In the museums on Museum Island, we see many pictures and sculptures of idealised bodies: athletic bodies, muscular and slim bodies.
We also see sculptures with missing hands, arms or legs. Sometimes even a nose or head is missing. Then the sculptures look like damaged bodies.
We are interested in this contrast.
In this workshop, we play with images of museum exhibits and pictures from glossy magazines using collage techniques: Today's glossy magazines meet antique sculptures.
Another inspiration is outsider artist Rudi Bodmeier, who combines female figures with animals or everyday objects in his prints and paintings.
The result is newly composed bodies and extraordinary creatures.
