Critical Consumer Culture. Paper and object works
Consumption shapes our everyday life. Controlled by neuroeconomic market research with promises of happiness, perfection or exclusivity, products are ascribed an ideological value. As a result, they are elevated to the status of modern icons. The accompanying standardization process, which the sociologist Georg Ritzer describes as "McDonaldization" and which counteracts any diversity, is ignored.
Works by Deniz Dogan and Corinna Heideprim from Thikwawerkstatt will be shown together with positions by Albrecht Fersch.

Nomination for EUWARD
We are delighted to share that Torsten Holzapfel and Christian Wollert have been nominated for the EUWARD. Out of 240 entries, 19 artists were selected for the final judging for euward9 on 16th of September 2023.
About EUWARD:
The Augustinum Stiftung has awarded the euward every three years since 2000. This distinction is the most important award internationally for art in the context of mental disability. Its goal is to promote unknown artists and to make their creativity accessible to the public.
euward’s aspiration is to reveal the artistic quality in the work of these cultural outsiders. The award makes clear their importance for our culture. Their artistic creations are a vital impulse in contemporary art. Purely social aspects do not play a role.

Exhibition Interspace
Projektraum Schönhauser09. Juni - 07. Juli 2023
20 artists are planning and creating new artistic contributions to the theme and title of the exhibition "interspace".
Which social interspaces exist, and which of them are accessible to whom? To whom is which space available, and to whom not? Can I make use of the space between society and myself? And thus also to others?
The new artistic PROJEKTRAUM SCHÖNHAUSER of Pfefferwerk Stadtkultur gGmbH offers in the current state of an unrenovated shell building until fall 2023 numerous winding spatial situations and moods, crevices and breakthroughs as a temporary exhibition or intermediate space. Through the exhibition, not only spatial and architectural, but also social references of the interim artistic use and production will be developed at the site of the exhibition.

LAUSENLASSEN
HilbertRaum BerlinWe cordially invite you to the exhibition on artistic monkey universes, with pictures by Cornelia Glowniewski
29.07. - 07.08.2022
Opening: Friday, 29.07.22, 6 - 10 pm
In my study hang three pictures of the artist Astrid Fohrmann. The sheets are covered with a colorful, very energetic ductus. Although they seem at first glance somewhat confused, one recognizes within seconds that they are clearly circled compositions. According to the representation, they are groups of monkeys, humanized by the brushstrokes, in sometimes more or less concrete urban spaces.
These exhibition is an invitation for Fohrmann's monkey groups to come into contact with conspecifics from other artistic monkey universes.
In the infinite HilbertRaum, meet in the exhibition lausenlassen the works of:
Hildegard Skowasch, Marc Taschowsky, Oliver Möst, Gunilla Jähnichen, Manfred Michl Stewens Ragone&Annette Reichardt, Katrin Hoffert, Astrid Fohrmann, Meike Sander, Martin Städeli, Julia Fischer, Florian Pelka, Daniela von Waberer, Paul Pretzer, Heike Kati Barath, Jürgen Baumann, Cornelia Glowniewski, Jutta Geier, Roswitha Schaab,

HEIDI BRUCK
Galerie ART CRU Berlin
Solo Exhibition
March 31st - May 1st, 2022
About 15 years ago, Heidi Bruck began exploring forms such as circles and triangles in drawings. The artist, who only wears red clothes and has rarely spoken in words since childhood, developed a fascinating visual language as an important medium of communication. The drawings are her notes, she once said. From a multitude of strokes, she creates large, abstract forms that either stand alone or are grouped into pairings. The works appear monumental and playful at the same time; a lively, rampant cosmos that stands in contrast to the artist's stillness.
Galerie ART CRU Berlin has been Berlin's only gallery for outsider art since 2008.

Welcome to THIKWA,
Thank you for visiting the newly designed website of the THIKWA WERKSTATT FÜR THEATER UND KUNST (Thikwa workshop for theater and art) to find out more about us, and the many things we do.
When you browse the pages of this website, you may be surprised at the amount of intriguing and inspiring things to be found under the general term, workshops.
In our modern world, work and the artistic examination of our life are usually distanced and far apart from each other.
This makes it all the more remarkable, and special, that in the 1990s our house generated a new field of self-fulfillment for the people with disabilities in our care: artistic creation as work.
It has been fascinating to observe the variety of ways work and art have developed and expressed themselves under the umbrella of our non-profit organization nbw - Nordberliner Werkgemeinschaft GmbH and the Theater Thikwa e.V.
I wish to express here both my pride in all the people who helped create this workshop for theater and art, and my sincere wishes for their continued success.
Dana Sachs
